My wife went overboard, (but it's okay)

Traveling to visit kids and grandkids for Christmas we stopped at a friend's pawn shop some 275 miles from home.
He has had a freshly rebuilt Diana 54 Air King in the shop for close to three years now, the price was up there, so I made a habit of just fondling it during my visits.
It is a .177 with Walther target sight on the rear, and the standard chunk of firewood sized front sight.
Anyway, friend had it long enough, knocked 220 bucks off the price, wife waved her credit card, I've been doing a lot more fondling.
Won't get back home for a few days to do any real shooting.

Well, I might have discovered why someone took such a rifle to the pawnshop.

At 25 yards it groups (nicely) about 2 3/4 inches left with the sight adjusted all the way right.

When I get back home, the plan is to clamp the rifle in a padded vise, use a machinist level on the rail, then check if the front sight is square. If it is not square, what a great excuse to sell the rear sight to help finance a quality airgun rated scope.
Optics were in the plan already.
The groups fired to day were with some cheap Crossman hollow points, good enough for now, just got to get some sights looking the same place the barrel does.

A friend told me his wife was getting on him for spending money on cartridges for his Enfield. I told him that every time we went shooting he should give her some good loving when he got home and tell her that shooting was raising his testosterone levels. She began buying him boxes of ammo whenever she went to Walmart and bought him several new guns.
Guess it could work for airguns as well.

Casting 177 pellets by me is very unlikely.

Buying a 30 cal springer would be a very good reason to cast pellets.

I do have schemes of making 25 cal pellets for marauder already in my stable. The new NOE molds look real good. Most of my money has been directed at machine tools for quite a while.

I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. About the 30 cal. Springer and casting that is.
