need your opinion on 30-30

If the .30-30 was an H&R/NEF Handi (you didn't say what gun it was), $350 was about twice what it was worth - Probably why he was more than pleased.

You ought to see what NEF rifles in good shape are going for since they've been discontinued......I know I'd be hard pressed to sell mine.....

You would be doing good if you found a barrel only at that price now.

Two things to bear in mind:

1: You're both satisfied.
2: You say he's a friend of yours and you don't need the rifle. If he ever decides to buy it back you can ask exactly what you paid for it and both get satisfied again.

Yes I told my friend that he could have first option if he ever wanted to buy it back.....

I took this rifle out to the range last evening. It is a carbine model and I was shooting 180 gr Cast. I was surprised at its accuracy. Even with open sights and my marginal eyes I was pretty consistently hitting or hitting close to the 3.5" dia. orange clay targets. I burned through 40 rounds and had great fun shooting from the kneeling position at 100 yds.
