Sold a lot of them and owned many. Never had any trouble with any of them. They didn't seem to be any heavier than similar 98 style rifles. I only had one with synthetic stock & it was after market job.

I think I shaved a few ounces off by changing out scopes, the Burris seems lighter than the Bushnell. The weight doesn't really bother too much unless gaining elevation, going from 3500 to 6500 every ounce counts, setting in the safe none of my rifles seem heavy at all! 8 pounds without a scope and my Axis is 6.5 pounds, YAH YOU'LL NOTICE THAT 1.5 Pounds if you are hunting in the mountains, no problem for a flatlander sitting in a stand though, but I've never done that.

I remember Rusty's in the Salina mall, been gone a long time now.

I didn't get the rifle, but may have to give them some consideration if one ever presents itself again.

The weight has kept me away. 6.5# Tikkas will spoil you that way...Varmint weight 1500 Howa would be fine for sitting.

The Howa recall concerned the bolt shroud. If you disassembled the bolt and reassembled it wrong it was possible for the bolt sear to catch the safety lever and could conceivably fire if you touched the safety. Howa would replace the bolt shroud with a larger/different version shroud that could not go back in the rifle if it was reassembled wrong. The recall concerned all the users of Howa actions.

What it boils down to is make sure you get your bolt shroud screwed back on all the way if you take the bolt apart
