I bought the NOE 170 grain 45 cal DEWC, couldn't help myself. 23 grains of H110 and a 300 grain bullet in a large frame ruger revolver with 3.5" barrel gets old.
Obvious answer is load up with trailboss and cough the bullets out of the barrel. But I wouldn't mind pushing the pressure envelope. Doesn't need to max out the Ruger frame, but doesn't need to be below 15ksi either. 20, 25, etc would be fine. Thing is, I don't want to use powders at or below 50% case fill if I can avoid it. And finding bulky powders at or above 80% fill seem to be either low velocity, low pressure, or both.
Surfing around quickloads seems to tell me that fast pistol powders will push velocity and pressure, but end up being 50% case fill or even less. 40%, even 30%. I'd like to avoid that.
Any powder you guys like for light bullets? I've only ever shot heavy-for-cal cast bullets.
