    Savage 23B

I picked up the savage 23B a few months ago and it looks like it had a side mount scope attachment. I am wondering if Someone could tell me what mount it takes and or if they’re still available. Thanks for the help.Click image for larger version.

A basic weaver side plate, then go with the upper one that will work!

    .

This is the side-mount base (Weaver T-2) that fits your rifle:

If you scroll down to applications, you'll see the Savage 23 listed.

I believe that I have the mount, and scope that you need. My rifle is not drilled and I can't bring myself to drill it so may as well let the scope and mount go. I am looking at modifying a Skinner receiver site to fit the existing holes (for original receiver site) and keep the little rifle looking more original. Feel free to pm me if you might be interested in the scope and mount. JW

Mine had the rear aperture sight on it. It wasn't drilled for a scope mount but I had the 2 8 48 tapped holes for the aperture and one 10 48 to work with on the top of the receiver. I used a piece of Brownels weaver blank drill the hole pattern in it counterbored them. a little refinish and I had the scope mount I needed. The 3 screws hold the redfield 2-7 on fine.

I forget the number of the mount but it was probably a Weaver mount. They were made of heavy stamped steel with half the ring in base portion. Maybe a "N" mount? They were on a lot of 22s back
in 50s. I don't know if the newer Weaver side mount base has the same screw pattern.

Savage 23s that were D&T were set up for the Weaver N Mounts. These are the simple one piece stamped steel mounts. You can find them on Ebay.
