I read some old threads on it; some claim it's easy as 30 to 25-06; others disagree. Anyone do this? Yes I realize 6.5 Gr brass is available but there's more x39 by a bunch.

I do it all the time. I mostly only ise converted brass. Works great. You have to have a Grendel Type 2 bolt or a 7.62x39 bolt. The case heads have different thicknesses. Type 2 bolt or 7.62x39 bolt can shoot both cases. Type 1 bolt can only shoot Grendel brass.
Before the fire form the case capacity is lower. I use a light charge of 2400 to fireform. Then load as normal.
When i compared case capacity of converted brass to grendel brass it was the same. So on a whim I used the same charge of H4895 in the Grendel brass and works great for both brass types. I probably should tune a load for the Grendel brass because of the primer difference but its for mass plinking and not precision.
Saving up now for another custom barrel so i can go over 1600 fps. I want either a 1 in 10 or a 1 on 11.

When reforming I just drop the powder charge about two grains over normal Grendel load for the bullet weight. Some x39 brass has less case capacity than others, I have found out.
Thanks, guys.
