    .357 in a colt saa. Reproduction ?

All over this forum and others you see the pressure levels for 45 colt, from colt saa to the custom 5 shots. So my question is what what would the limit be for a saa reproduction, pietta great western 11 ?

I'm not looking to shoot max loads in them, just wondering what would be a good .357 load for them that won't shoot them loose.

    Thanks Scott

perhaps refer to the online hodgdon's load data and stick close to the start loads.

uberti said there smoke wagon in 357 wont blow up,
but they said the gun would not last with full power j words.
They recommended lead cowboy loads ( 1000 and under FPS )
Just what they said--not my opinion.

there is 158 cast data, do their search for .357 and 158 and all and all, then look at the bottom of the page.

Shot a bunch of LYMAN #358156 over max load of 2400 in an Armi San Marco EMF 4 3/4" bbl in .357Mag.
A bit hard on the hand.
Gave it up after about 2000 rds. No problem with the revolver. Just a sore hand.

If you need a steady diet of .357Mag loads, then get a RUGER or 686.

.357 is higher pressure, but smaller head size and fewer square inches.

Smokeless frame Gen2 Colt SAAs were never any problem with factory .357 ammo.
