    Score!

I shot this buck in Pa on opening day with my Ruger SRH 44 mag. Not very big by some standards but far away from food plots and crop fields, this is about as lucky as one can get. One shot at about 40 yards. Ive shot many deer in the past, but this is the first buck with a handgun. My gun usually wears a 2x scope, but with all the rain and fog, I removed it to get a better sight picture. Now I can spend all next week taking my nephew( 14yrs old) hunting and not worrying about filling my own freezer.

No need to apologize. Handgun kills are special in their own right. Great job!

For a mountain buck, that's definitely a trophy! Congrats. Were you on Gameland?

lWell done sir! We get to a point in our lives where the trohy is in the hunt, not the size of the game we harvest.

Nice take! My buddy in AZ is going to try to take one this year with a Ruger red hawk 44 mag, 2x scope. Forgot what load he is going to use but he’s good out to 150 yards.

I had my Ruger SBH 44 Mag dialed in at 50 yards a couple of years ago. 21.5 gr W296 and Lee 310 grain boolits going into 2-3” groups resting on a sandbag using a Ultradot red dot. Guess it would be tough to do the same offhand! I was going to cast and load some and take it out this year but time slipped by me and I carried my 45/70 instead. Next year...

Nice buck. They are all trophy's like you said not everyone has a spot with 200+ inch bucks.
If you were excited and overjoyed by it then it's a trophy and the handgun harvest is a bonus.
    Congratulations
