    King's Gunworks

    Hello Folks,

At one time King's Gunworks customized revolvers for competition. They made mirrored front sights, offset hammer spurs, ribs, and lots of other really nice things. Can anybody point me to a site that describes the various services and parts they used to offer?

Presently I'm particularly interested in the offset hammer spurs for fast, one-handed, single action shooting. Any photos would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Tom

It was common for the gunsmith to make the hammer himself. The hammer's spur was cut off and welded lower on the hammer out to one side. They were called Cockeyed hammers as well. I did not know they were made commercially.
The American Rifleman had an article on the early revolvers about 5 years ago.

You might check with Cornell Publications for old King catalogs/brochures.

You are talking about King Gun Sight Company. King Gunworks is a different company altogether. King Gun Sight was the pioneer of adjustable sights on revolvers in the post WWI era and also designed several custom parts (like the cockeyed hammer) for the bullseye shooter. They produced many custom parts and did phenomenal work on firearms sent to them for the custom parts. I have a link to a 1939 King Gun Sight catalog.
