    New Accurate Mold

I just ordered my first Accurate mold! This will also be the first aluminum mold that I have had since I tried and discarded a Lee aluminum mold 45 years ago. Really looking forward to it. I've been reading about the care and feeding of aluminum molds but please feel free to offer any advice.

Melt your lead, open the box, apply the handles, and start casting. Preheat your mold if desired. That's about all you need to do with a new Accurate mold. They are fantastic, you're gonna love it.

I got my 8th Accurate mold a couple of weeks ago, a 38-245 O for my 375 JDJ 14 inch Contender. Most of mine are 4 and 5 cavity so this one had a bit of a learning curve. I have to run it at 725 degrees to get pretty boolits and the others like 685 degrees for the most part. What did you get lightman?

Wonderful molds; I own many. Suggest you wash thoroughly using hot water and dishwashing detergent.

No need. Tom cleans the molds before he ships them. Open box and use.

I've also consigned a couple of cheaply made 2 and 6 cavity aluminium molds to the scrap metal bin. I now have a shelf loaded with Accurate molds, they are all 4 gang aluminium molds and I couldn't be happier.

Heat it up a little bit and spray it with brake cleaner. Not casting HOT! Just warm to the touch. Then do a couple heat cycles.

I have 11 Accurate molds. I love his cast iron 2 and 3 cav molds. For me they just work beautifully. They drop great boolits from the 2nd pour every time and maintain temp very well.
I do have a couple of his aluminium molds in 4 and 5 cav and they are a great too.

I have my PID set at 750F which works well for me.

bosterr, what loads are you using in the JDJ? I have the 38-275H and 38-255CG for mine.

When I first cast with an Accurate mold, I had nice keepers in no time. Great mold! So easy to cast good boolits with. I don't believe that Tom recommends heat cycling.

I can't add anything except to say my experience echo's everyone else's. Great molds, great guy to work with.

Another satisfied Accurate customer. Open the box and use with complete success.

Well it has arrived and it is a thing of beauty! Can't wait to cast with it but it will probably be after the 1st. I was impressed with the short time between the order and arrival. And the workmanship!

What handles do you guys like with Tom's 4 cavity molds? His website says either Lee or RCBS.

I like the high quality Lee handles, intended for Lee six-cavity molds.

    I use the Lee handles.

I bought an RCBS mold recently and the pins are a lot smaller than the screws on the Accurate mold. Out of curiosity i check if the RCBS handles would fit my Accurate molds and they won't unless you drill the holes.

This surprises me. I use Lee and RCBS handles interchangeably on my Accurate molds. It is Lyman handles that I often must modify.

Has RCBS changed their handles? It's been a long time since I bought a set.
