    Cast and the 257 Bob

So I have my Uncle's old Ruger M77 Tang safety sitting in the back of the safe doing nothing. I am thinking of buying a plain base 105gr Noe mold to play around with.

What have been your results with cast in the Roberts?

I haven't tried it yet, thinking a PCed boolit like that one should be fun They do make 4 & 5 cavity molds for that one, even. Used 100 Gr. j-word Spitzers in the past.

120 grain Sierra 36.0 grains IMR 4064. USED TO BE 35.5 WAS MAX. 2700 F.P.S. NOW... Very mild. 7 x 57's - 6 mm cases all show higher pressures . The only difference mind had , was moly coated bullets..

I used to shoot a gc Lyman rn in mine. It was a dandy. If I remember right it was 258325, weighed close to 120gr's with ww. You'll like it.

I had a Lyman 90gr fpgc mould that worked well over Red Dot in my 25-06. However driving a Ferrari at school zone speeds didn't appeal to me much so I sold the mould. I always thought the .257 Roberts would be perfect, but we have a .250 Savage and the 25-06 so I never could justify one.

The 120 and 100 gr RCBS gas check boolits seem to work well. I bought some 100 gr gas check boolits from someone, and they worked very well...particularly after I started seating them .015" into the rifling. YMMV!

I've got a 257 Rob AI. It's done superbly with the 257312GC (frequently 5 shot groups inside an inch at 100yds). I also have a 257325 clone from NOE (260325 I think it's around 117gr) and that's shown a lot of promise as well. This is all with Alliant 2400 in the 13.5-16.5gr range.

I have a Savage with whatever the standard 257Rob twist rate--I think 1:10".
