I shoot a 40-70 sharps straight Remington rolling block, my recommendation is to get a Lyman cast bullet handbook. Loads for the 40-65 are in the book.
Thank you very much
What are you planning on loading for it Smokeless or black powder? Look very hard at data and make sure it is "trap Door" rated loads especially in smokeless loads. Lymans cast bullet book is good and has smokeless loads SPGs manual has BP loads. Some of Mike Venturinos books may have some data in them also.
Country Gent is right; PLEASE make sure you're loading "'Trap Door" pressure ammunition.. steels may be stronger but the design isn't! Good luck with your project; I have a .40-65 Browning BPCR that I could never get the accuracy out of that I wanted. Never tried it with smokeless, though, so will dig it out sometime and give it a try. Cast bullets only, of course!
