New Lee 358-125-RF mold arrived today.

New Lee 358-125-RF mold arrived today. I ordered it off eBay and got a good deal on it.
I decided to give it a try out this afternoon.
My pot is a Lee 4-20 and I got everything up to heat, lubed the mold and was dropping good boolits with the second cast.
The session went well. No problems with sticky boolits or wrinkles at all.
I ran it for 30 minutes and had 384 boolits on the table when I got done.
My alloy was range scrap so I am never certain until I get done what the boolits will weigh. These dropped at just under 130 grains.
They measure .359 right on the nose with my micrometer and they are ROUND. No mis-alignment or oval to them at all.
Lee was having a great day when they made this mold.
I will be able to use these in my 38/357 and my 9mm with no issues.

Now I need to get my lube sizer converted over to .357 and get some of these ready to go.

Tasman, I'm guessing this is a 6 cavity mold. I've had good luck tumble lubing these with Alox or Ben's liquid lube. Have fun, Tim

I cast those hard, with a Linotype to range lead, 1-10. I lube with carnauba red, size .358, and load over HP-38, for use in a Rossi 92. Smacks those jackrabbits hard. Lee hit a home run with this boolit.

I load them over 5gr of Unique and they will eat up the x ring at 25yds.

I absolutely love that boolit in my Rossi 92 trapper. I load using Bullseye from 3.5gr to 5.5gr. I've even used it with full power 357 loads using 2400. It's just a great overall boolit.

I had a mold like this several years ago that dropped undersized boolits. This was before powder coating became popular which i don't care that much for.
These are a nearly perfect size for me. Now that I have a lubrisizer, it will be a better deal for me.
I used to tumble lube everything. That worked well enough that I didn't have any issues other than needing to clean the build up out my seating dies fairly often.
About 8 weeks ago, I found an old container of the ones from before, loaded them up in 38 special cases, and fired them in a 357 that I knew had a slightly smaller bore size. They shot extremely well.
When I found this mold on sale, I had to get it.

That is a handy mold. I use it for 9mm, 38 and 357. I think you will enjoy it.

I use 2 of them to speed things up. It is my #1 in 38, 357 and 9mm. It also works in a 380. 384 in half an hour with a single mold. You are fast.

That has become my primary .38/.357 bullet. It shoots extremely well in all my guns and my 6 cav makes lots of bullets quickly. As someone said, Lee hit a home run with this bullet.

I took 100 rounds of 9mm loaded with these to the range today along with a few of my 9mm pistol collection. The boolits were sized .357 and lubed with White Label NRA 50-50. I could see where the sides of the boolits were still full size so I seated them to where that line ended and crimped right there. The OAL came out to be 1.120-1.124.
They plunk in all my 9mm barrels this way. Even the very tight match barrels.
I was using WSF with a load that makes them full power or maybe just a little on the +P side. WSF works well in this range since it is a fairly slow and somewhat bulky powder.
The primers were just starting to flatten a bit with this load. I would espect to get near 1100fps with it.
I ran them through an XDM competition, a Springfield Range Officer, an XD_E, and a Taurus PT92 with a Beretta barrel.
there were no failures to feed.
I was expecting problems feeding with the Range Officer but they never materialized. It tends to like longer OAL.
Groups were good to outstanding depending on the gun except for the XD-E. For some reason they grouped poorly in that pistol.
Since the Beretta barrel in the Taurus slugs at .357, I was expecting it to not group as well and maybe lead a bit. Didn't happen that way. It shot this boolit into groups the same size as the Range Officer did and did it without leading at all.
The XDM Competition shot well but it does better with jacketed.
All in all, I am very pleased with this mold.and the results I got. Good accuracy. Good feeding. No leading. Great output when casting. What is there not to like about it?

I like this boolit and mold too! I use it from mild 38’s to full weenie .357 magnums with great accuracy. It’s a fun little boolit and they just fall from my mold like rain!

This is going to be a fun boolit. I have over 700 of them cast, sized, and lubed sitting there ready to load.
Right now I got sidetracked with another mold. I got one for special use in a particular handgun. I got some of them cast up last night and need to load a few of them to test.
Probably going to be a bit before I get back to the 125 RF mold.
    Testing never seems to end.

I don't doubt that for a second. I just wish I had more equipment to test with.

I wish I had the pressure testing equipment Larry Gibson has. I would go nuts with that setup.
There is always another piece of equipment or another gun to figure out. Not enough time or money to do it all. At least do all that and still practice like I need to.

That is a nice report Tazman!

That boolit powder coated and sized to .358 works well in a couple of old 9mm handguns (P38 and 213). A 4.9 gr charge of Unique does the trick. Those have to be seated pretty short to work in both guns (but we know that COL is gun specific!).
