The title of my post says it all--I assume .416 gas check (41 Magnum) also work on .40 caliber bullets because neither Lyman nor Hornaday seems to offer a .40 caliber gas check. TIA

I have made a bunch of .45 Colt sized with my old FreeChex II and Pepsi cans folded over once. On a whim I decided to try some on boolits for my .44 Mag and they did just fine.
Remember that these were aluminum checks. I dunno if copper checks will squeeze up enough or not. Can't hurt to try a few....

Did I ever mention that I hate to trim brass?
As long as it fit check fits the shank and has enough thinknes to crimp on snug then i dont see why not. I can use .270 cal check on 6.5mm but not the other way. They both have the same size check shank diameter. But the cup thickness is different. You crimp a 6.5 mm check ok to a .270 bullets and I can pull it off with my thumb nail.
