+1 More! Nice knowing I'm not the only one with a sore thumb loading my 30-30 Trapper.

Is the action D&T for a scope base?

Henry rifles are drilled and tapped for scope bases. The lever action rifles accept Marlin bases, and the single shot rifles take H&R bases. Henry also sells bases.

Wait....you walk around with a hammer levergun cocked, chambered, and no manual safety applied?

I have a tube loading lever rifle, a marlin 39, it is ok for 22, which is dinky. But all the other lever guns I have feature loading gates. Much better way to load larger cartridges and you can do it from any position. Why would you prefer to load a repeater like a muzzloader?

The hammers interfere with scopes too.

I have a Chiappa double badger...has the most sensible system for a break action I can think of...it's like a shotgun, where long ago the prefered system settled on a sliding tang safety and internal hammers because it's fast, sleek, simple, and safe. There remains variation with triggers. I prefer two on doubles. There is no reason why this system can't be used.

I've called Henry and asked them questions over the years like why don't you make them in steel...it's lighter and stronger...why don't you make them in 30-30 and 45-70..it has taken them a while, but they came around. In June I was told to watch the catalog in regards to loading gates, but I don't see them yet.

No, no, no......the scopes interfere with the hammers.

I like both; hammers and hammer less, but kinda prefer hammers

So you have to run taller rings sometimes, big deal. I'm running low rings on my Henry single shot. I've had more problems with the handle of a bolt action getting in the way than any hammer.
