    The difference is the same!
The Swiss makes quality now and they did back then also.
I have a 1869 and had a '81 from 1886, they were spitting images of each other and shared ammo without resizing cases.

Get the one you fancy and be happy

Over on the Swiss Rifles site there is a whole section with descriptions of each type. From what I remember, most of the later ones had the same action and were just sight and other small changes.
The only amendment the Democrats support is the 5th.

I have a 69/71 and a 78/81 both are excellent rifles. The M78's have a slightly different trigger system and at least with my two the M78 does have a better trigger pull. All in all I would be happy with either model.

Go for "best condition" as all the models are similar.

Thank you much gentleman. I've got my eyes on one that has the checkering or is it called squaring? As well as the old style site and
requires twist on rod bayonet. From what I can tell it's got a nice bore.
