    HAndloads.com?

Does anyone know what happened to them? The site has been down for a while.

Things had gotten slow there, but I had hoped it would spring back up eventually. I'm on here more now, but started on forums over there and had friends on it (several are also regulars here). I hope it's not gone for good.

I too started over there. There are a lot of folks here and there. The site was rarely updated and the format was quite old. Maybe the owner/site admin just let it time out?

I was one of the oldest members there, started when it was very active. The last 2 years I wondered if the plug was going to be pulled as the older members have died off or moved on to other forums.

Noticed last week it's dead and I'd bet it's not coming back. That forum saw such little use that this is the first anyone as asked about it. It was sad to watch it die but I wouldn't be surprised if the owner finally pulled the plug.

For a forum to work you need new members from time to time and interesting topics. I had hopes that the site would continue as there were new members coming in. Hate to see it go but I don't think it will be back.

Too bad. I didn't post much or often, but I visited almost every day.

Too bad. I hope it comes back up. It’s (it was) a good resource.

This site is very active. Others not so much. Without folks that post, a site gets "stale". Members come in multiple capacities. Those that post always (not me). Those that post now and again (me). Those that respond always (not me). Those that respond now and again (me). And the Fence Sitters, gawkers, and Guests.

Certainly without attracting new members, a site gets old, but familiar.

It also costs to serve a site and folks that started out making sites with forums probably didn't realize the effort or dollars it would take to keep them alive.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.

Seems gunloads.com (without subdomain "castboolits") is a bit of a ghost town.

I know that the owner wanted to shut Handloads down but the old timers asked him to keep it running as a place for them to meet. But, one by one they died off till I don't think there were 5 people posting on the forum. It got so desolate that I would only visit once every 2 or 3 weeks. And none of the topics were interesting enough for me to post.

I'll try this forum for awhile and see how it goes.

I was one who posted fairly regularly. I was on it for many years. I had to re do my info since I forgot a lot since my heart attack and cancer surgeries, plus getting old....but I did enjoy looking up loads and figuring out which would work for me. I'm sorry to see it is gone.

When Paul Jett passed away, that was the steep decline time starting. Seems he was holding it together.

Paul was a member here too, just didn't post as much. Handloads was pretty active when I joined it. Hate to see it die, I'd have figured they'd at least give everybody a warning that it was coming.

Guilty myself. I was an early member, hadn't posted in years. Only visited a couple times a year in recent times.

Yeah, I checked last night for a new load to try and it was up. I have never participated in the forums, but I have considered it a valuable source of reload data for years. I have a three ring binder with a ton of pages from that site that I printed off to keep out in the shop.

It is not allowing any one new to join/register into the Forum section due to the "Captcha" not working.

As long as it remains closed, the forum section will "slowly die on the vine" so to speak. The rest of the site has much to look at, if nothing else for some research uses, & I hope it remains accessible. I have had it "bookmarked" for a while now.

Kind of a bummer that it is not longer open to new members though...
