Safe loads for Danish 8X58R Rolling Block

The 8x58RD Rolling block is SWEDISH!
Not to be confused to the same cartridge 8x58RD loaded in the DANISH Krag Repeater that was loaded considerably hotter!
Be careful out there!

For the original Danish Krag rifle the Arsenal set max. pressure to 2600bar~37.7kpsi
That load destroyed Rolling Blocks in short order and a max. pressure of 1600bar~23.3kpsi was deemed safe.

The 8x58RD cartridge was put into use in 1889 by the Danes but the Norwegians started to use it in their Kongsberg RB's in 1888.
The Swedes followed with their RB's in 1889 and the Danes converted a small number og RB's in 1893.

I don't remember the load but 4759 gave me the best results with a 225gr boolit. Possibly around 18gr but DO NOT take that as gospel. That is a pretty low pressure load in a 303 Enfield though.

I've been shooting an old Lyman / Ideal .323471 with a weight of about 215 grains over a similar load of SR4759. It is a mild load and my Swedish Roller shoots it well. Even that very long boolit needs to be seated WELL out of the case to get anywhere near the throat on my rifle, which I understand is quite common from what I've read about these rifles. If you take the time to read through the sage comments written by the "Dutchman" regarding these rifles and the 8x58R cartridge you'll be far better educated on what you should and should not be loading in these old Swedish Rollers.

yes, 17 to 20 gr 4759 works well. I shoot the Lee .330 and an NOE .326 215 gr
