Who here is shooting the CZ 455?

This is my CZ 455 Varmint 17 HMR. I am using a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 scope with BKL scope mounts.

After playing with this rifle a bit I really like it. One thing I could not stand was the trigger. I had to change it.

Now the trigger breaks clean at 1-3/4 pounds.

One thing I found out quick is how bad the wind affects the 17 HMR. I have shot a lot of sub 1/2" groups with it at 50 yards. I have been right at 1" at 100 but I think I could shrink that with a day with less wind. I have shot it out to 150 a little bit. I was shooting shotgun hulls with it. They were easy to hit then the wind came up and I was done.
Over all I like the rifle a lot.

I have a CZ455 with 16.5" barrel and synthetic stock.
I also replaced the trigger with a Timney and it is a huge improvement.

Mine currently has a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x33 EFR which works well on this rifle.
Mine really likes the SK brand of ammo. It will put 5 shots into 3/8" at 50m with the match ammo.

I own and shoot a CZ 455 in 22lr. I love it.It shoots well out to 50 yards. I haven't worked with it farther than that yet. Pretty much dime size groups out to 50 yards with Norma Match.

ron, I have a 455, but mine is 22lr FullStock... did have a SWFA 10X with mil-mil... shoots great.. I just tuned my trigger with spring kit, and replaced some other parts... great rifles... but I don't think you will be paperpatching that 17... I previously had the 455 combo,,,, I wasn't a fan of the 17 and sold it and got the fullstock... thanks for your pp help
Perhaps my learning skills have diminished in my senior years.. 50 years ago I could read something once and then "have it"... Now I read it about three times, do it a couple of times and then... "have it" only about half the time.

I own a 455FS in 22LR. No scope for me but instead an aperture sight. Can't argue with MOA or less out to 50 yards. Only thing I don't like is they need to thin the forearm wood by about 50%. They're something of a club.

I have a CZ 455 American, a sporter weight barrel gun. It shoots beyond my expectations with both the .22lr and the 17hmr barrels. Here's a six shot group at 75yds with the 17hmr (had six shots left in the box), and a five shot .22lr group shot at 50yds. It's topped with a VX-2 4-12x40AO scope and has a Timney trigger. The 17hmr group measures 7/16" center to center.

My CZ455 Varmint is a shooter. The CMP Eley bulk will shoot consistent .6 five shot groups at 50 yds if I do my part. Topped with a Vortex Crossfire II 6x18. Trigger spring replaced. Not bad for a wood and steel 22 for around $400.

A fairly local Gander Mountain store was closing, and I spied a CZ Model 452 Varmint in .22 at what appeared to be a great close-out sale price. I put a small bi-pod on it, and added a "Classic Weaver 3-9x rimfire" scope (the one with AO). To say I fell in love with this combo would be a gross understatement -- such, that on my next trip past the store, I purchased a 2nd, and outfitted it exactly as my first. I replaced both triggers with Timney's, and "wow" -- the two bestest (sic) .22s in my safe! When a son comes "home", and we go to the range for fun shootin' -- these are invariably what we take.

Yes, I showed two groups in my earlier reply and it was from two different barrels....a 17hmr and a .22lr. It's a five minute job or less if you've done it a couple of times.

That shoots great. Do you have to change the scope much between barrel switches?

Count the clicks when you resight for another barrel and it will go back to almost the exact spot when you put it back. You might have to give it a couple of clicks to get it dead on. I had a .22mag barrel for it but sold it. I just couldn't figure out where it fit in after getting the 17hmr. Woodchucks and varmints are much easily dispatched with the 17hmr. The mag barrel didn't shoot as good as the 17 or the 22lr. I've owned a dozen .22mag rifles and handguns and it was my favorite rimfire until the 17 came along. Just lost interest in the .22mag afterwards. I get an extra fifty yards out of the gun with the 17, and it shoots much tighter groups.

I'm hoping they will offer the 455 in left hand .22 mag. soon . I can't seem to find a used 452 lefty in that chambering or even a left hand Kimber .

You live in Idaho, is that nearly as bad as Wyoming for wind? I used to live next to Lake Ontario, wind was a nearly constant issue there until you got 40 miles away to let the landscape scrub off some wind speed.

I have the 452 varmint. It doesn’t like SV but it does like HV. .22 long rifle though. I bought mine used and the trigger was actually too light, someone already swapped the spring. All I did after my first range trip was tighten the sear spring to where it was a bit safer than the bump threshohold.

The wind in Southern Idaho is always a problem for shooting.
