I'm surprised no one has mentioned "reusing" the plastic 100rd CCI packaging with slide top.
They are my favorite...I find them all the time in the range trash can.

Kind of off topic, but I scrounge all the 17hrm cci boxes for my ready to use hunting boolits. Keeps me from plinking them up! Reuse/repurpose!

I have been using the CCI plastic boxes for year now, storing small items. They work great as OP said. james

Mentos and similar plastic containers work great for carrying/dispensing extra .22 rimfire ammo. TicTac containers are perfect for airgun pellets.
Cast is an adjective, a noun and a verb. Cast works as both imperative and past tense without any additional letters or helping verbs.

When my Uncle was passing thing down to me, he gave me this. He used it to carry extra rounds for his Ruger revolver. Now I am waiting for him to sell me his revolver.Click image for larger version.

Check out the ammo wallet for 22LR.
I have one and it`s very handy.
Stick it in your back pocket.

Especially useful if you hunt with target grade ammo with a soft wax lube!

When I was a kid, I carried my .22 ammo with one of these:

I have had mine for probably 40 years now, the inside plastic has cracked and broken from use, but everything else is still as good as the day it was new. I can't imagine how many .22's have made their way through that thing over the years, and I still use it if I am out with a .22.

Beeman bought the rights to the carrier but apparently no longer makes them. Look identical to mine, except mine is a cordova brown, rather than black.

The leathersmith in Kalispell who does all our leather repairs and builds, says he will build as many as I want if I can find him a source for the clasp spring closures at the top. I don't even know the proper name for that kind of closing mechanism.

I have all the rimfire ammunition pouches I need for this lifetime, but I have run into lots of people who would like one for themselves
well here is the metal spring closure they are apparently called kiss clasps 20 for under $10

Finally got a picture small enough to post. This is what I use when it is warm and hunting or just woods loafing with my Rem33 or Win 67.Click image for larger version.

Repurposed chalk bag for climbing. Quiet and handy on the belt.

I currently use a pill bottle. It's a larger one and it's soft plastic so if it gets dropped or set on it don't break. In the past I've done the pocket thing, used a drawstring leather pouch I made and a spring opening round ball pouch by safariland (I forget the model).

As a 10 year old, I had a leather ammo belt that held 30 cartridges. Liked it so much I had the part with the loops cut out of the old belt and sewn onto bigger belts as I grew.

Years ago, Uncle Mike's made a small pouch with a belt loop and a Velcro closing that would hold 100 rounds or so. I still have one in the truck.

When I get on the 4 wheeler, I usually wear a 22 revolver and carry extra ammo in a 35mm film cannister. I saved several of those back in the day. In the Summer, I carry two, one full of 22 shot shells.
