    .22 rimfire ammo carriers

These are handy for hunting with single shot .22s. My daughter gave me the one on the right. The one on the left is obviously a 1/4" hex bit holder. Discovered by me today and everybody else years ago probably.

For ammo that uses a hard wax lube there ok, but for ammo with a soft lube I am quite fond of the MTM ammo wallet.

I have used a pill bottle or the old 35mm film cannisters (yep...dating myself) to carry loose rounds. Not a good way to carry ammo if using a single shot as it is slow to use but they are free.

I've got 3 of the Marbles Catch 22's. They hold 50 rds, in 10 slots of 5 rds. They have a clip to secure to the belt. I highly recommend for extra ammo.

That is cool, cwlongshot. What did you attach it with?
On board ammo carriers are De Riguer for our Toppers scattered around the place. I'm not sticking one on my Remington 510, but the Rossi Matched Pair? Heck yeah.

ive got one the you slide open the side and can dump a whole 50 round box in then slide the cover shut, it clips to your belt and has a rotatory on the end that dispenses 1 round at a time as you spin it. had it since I was a kid, grandfather gave it to me to go along with the single shot rifle.

Does anyone make something similar now? That’s cool. Got any pics?

    I will date myself.
I carry my 22LR ammo in a zippered leather tobacco pouch.
    The type pipe smokers use.
Being soft and pliable, it fits in the pocket easily...dale

I guess I'm an odd-ball here. I save a Remginton Square 100 pack cases (the yellow kind)...and just refill it and carry that.

Mine are kept in a spare magazine in a pocket, extra box in the truck to fill them. Be a GREAT day if I have to refill the mags.

Clever idea! I'm gonna add that to my "kitchen-door" Stevens Favorite.

Dale, that is one of the more elegantly simple things to use. In my youth I used an old worn tobacco pouch that my step dad had retired from his smoke stuff. Still smelled of borkum riff.

An old ladies coin purse would also work well, also those vinyl rubber squeeze coin cases from yore.

I have always meant to make a flat wooden pocket case to hold ten rounds of 22 or magnum with a swivel top. Or another idea was a dovetailed slide top.

Just now I thought that the eighties and nineties vintage military flat ear plug case would work nicely. For that matter a tic tac case works. I did that too for just enough for a squirrel walk about. I don’t need a full 50 or 100 count box for that.

This came from a thought to carry enough ammo for a brace of squirrels with no rattle in my pocket. My squirrel woods are 80yards from my house so I don't need a lot of ammo.
Years ago I modified a P14 trapdoor buttplate to fit a Remington 510 for ammo storage. The problem there was that the bullets oxidized badly if left in there for weeks.

That's the way I carried my 22 ammo since I was old enough to hunt alone. I had a blow
out in the old tobacco pouch about 10yrs ago. Couldn't find another and now have some
kind of pouch made of nylon that sunglasses came in. It was best thing to carry ammo
quietly and cleanly. Fit in back pocket like a wallet.
