    Alloy composition testing

    This is mentioned sometimes, but where and how do you submit a test sample of a metal to a lab to determine its exact composition? I have something I believe is mostly tin, but would like to know for sure.

    How big a sample of the material do you need to send? How much does this service typically cost?

    I'll 2nd BNE. He wants a sample between a bb and a pea in size. It helps if you can tell him about the sample so he knows what to tell the machine to look for. I think RotoMetals can do samples but I don't know the cost. I've been real happy using BNE.

    I'll do a "third" for BNE. Very satisfied. Message him. He "charged" me a pound of casting metal for each sample analyzed (10).

    A pound per sample is his going rate. I ask him what he prefers and usually send extra.
