    AA8700 30-40 Krag loads needed

Was gifted a lb and 1/2 of the old AA8700 powder. Thinking this powder might work well in a 30-40 krag Rem RB built on a Rolling Block smokeless powder action. Like to use either the Lyman 311284 or 314299. Any loads out there?

If this is the same burn rate as WC870 I use 50 grains +/- in my Krag with 311284 and 60 in my 50-70's and 45-70's. Cheap fun.

Expect some zombies in the chamber. The 311284 seems to clean the chamber out pretty well. I just shoot and don't worry about the zombies left behind.

I have found that a good stiff alloy works better in the Krag with that boolit and that load. That's what I do, use at your own risk!

Let us know how you make out.

    Mark

Checked my Accurate manual and only found one load for cast for 8700.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.
