The .357 would be a sweet gun but so difficult to justify as I have three .357 rifles now! Load it light for plinking fun and stout for varmint control....even good for deer at short range.

That makes sense. The 44's and 45/70's are pretty much out of stock everywhere (unless you want to pay retail+) and go out of stock in minutes after they are listed as in-stock....so why wouldn't you add a couple of calibers when you can't even keep up the the demand for calibers you already supposedly make. Sorry, a bit of a rank, but come on!!!

Most seem to be selling from $359-$369 as far as I can see.

The .30-30 would be a really nice deer rifle for a beginning or younger shooter. Not to mention if you wanted to handload for it, I could see some nice 165 grain Nosler ballistic tip or Partition rounds for it.
The .357 Magnum wouldn't be too shabby either.

I understand the attraction of a 357 but when I look at my brass supply and mold selection the 30-30 has me very interested. It also has a 22 inch barrel which is an attraction to me. LGS does not have one yet but I think I will bite when he does. They even have open sights which in this day and age is amazing. I will scope one if I get it.

Need one like I need a meal of boiled spinach but I want one. Its only my kids inheritance.

I recently traded my Handi 30-30 for another long gun. The Henry 30-30 is now on my list. My 357 handi and my Ruger 77-357 will do for that caliber. Gp

Need has never entered into any of the decisions for my gun purchases.
