So guy drops off a 357 last week. Gunsmith hands me revolver points to the barrel just inside & saysnubwanna do this.

Yep done plenty. I'll look at it next week. Next week is here. Owner stops in I find out he drilled 4 , I figure 5 jwords in it.
Then he drilled them out. Now the bore has a nice layer of lead and copper jacket for around 3.5".
I can't get a bite on the jackets to fold them in.
Any suggestions?
Anyone have a BH 4-/58 BBL for sale?

1977 puts it as a New Model. I would send it to Ruger and let them rebarrel it. You might dissolve some of the copper and lead with ammonia, but it will not do the rifling any favors. Yes, that job went from difficult to darn near impossible with one swipe of a drill bit.

Yepper I could have pulled and pushed the slugs out. I can't or I find it down right amazing. He knew the cartridges were old. He fired one and it hit the dirt out a few yards.

THEN he fired 4-5 more. You think he'd of noticed the lack of recoil.

I dropped a center punch in the muzzle it stopped about 3/4 down. On the other end a jacket is just forward of the cone.

He did do a good job drilling. Left just a skin of lead and all the jackets.

If yo can take the barrel off, mill down a piece of brass rod to fit inside the barrel and use a shop press. It just might push the jackets out.

That crossed my mind also. A few times I took a drill bit and it would catch the jacket and peel them off.

I've had luck with three of them stuck, using a slug of cerrosafe to fill the bore then drive the whole mess out.

Take a look at Brownell's squib rod, part # 084-175-357. I have found these rods are so close to the bore diameter they can be more than a little snug in several barrels. If one of these can catch any of those remaining jackets that will get you going. If they don't, you still have a tool you can use for years. Soak that bore with Kroil for a day or two before surgery, will help in getting the results you want.
