    Recycling Powder Coated bullets

OK...so you guys are great for putting power coating ON....whet happens when you try to get it OFF?
I was gifted some powder coated gas checked bullets with no gas check on them - but they HAVE been powder coated.
I can either size, lube and gas check them (and who knows if that would even work), or put them back into the pot and remelt them.
If I remelt them, I worry about the fumes from the powder coating decomposing.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks...........

I believe I would set the pot outside when melting powder coated bullets. Just in case.

Why can’t you just shoot them light loads ?

Well that is also an option.
This is for a 1924 made Savage Sporter in 25-20 WCF. Light loads might not be a bad idea.
The person that made these said he could never get them to shoot in his rifle.
Maybe some ww231 might work. I only have about 32 lbs of it......
I'll chew on that suggestion for a while.

I would attempt to size, lube and gas check them.

Depending on who did them, they may be over the standard size anyway because of the PC.
So you should have no problem sizing them.

size/gas check them. May need to expand the GC a tad. Or just size & shoot light loads. I recycle in my Lee pot, the junk stays on top if you don't stir until after scraping the junk off. No sweat with any fumes. 231 should work fine, I use cfe pistol for light loads (100gr hornady plinkers)in BO. Goes pop instead of bang.
    Whatever!

I would start off trying to install a gas check. I would not expect accuracy without a check, so for me I wouldn't put in the time and cost to reload them as it is too easy for me to cast my own. If I remelted them I would remelt in my smelting pot when I process range lead rather than in my casting pot as I try to keep my casting pot as clean as possible.

I toss back rejects all the time. Any residue is flux, stir, skim, move forward.

When my casting pot is up to temp, easing rejected coated bullets onto the top of the melt will quickly leave a colorful limp shell of a coating floating on the melt temporarily. Easy to scoop it from the top.
