    6.5 cast load

So i read the thread on 6.5 and slower powders.
    I'm working on a 6.5 Arisaka.
I have Lyman 266469, 266673, and the cruse missile.
    So far I'm using 2400.
I've tried some I4227, but not enough to make a conclusion.
    Any suggestions on other loads???

I have a Lee cruise mold that was modified to 150grs and it shoots great in my
    6.5 Swede's and Carcano's. I have a 6.5 Arisaka but haven't shot them in it yet.
I use 2400 @ 16-16.5 grs in most of my military rifles whatever caliber and it
seems to shoot good in all of them. I've also got the 266469 and a couple of
NOE molds @ 134 and 163 gr that I haven't played with enough yet.
Using a bullet of the proper diameter is the key to getting a 6.5 to shoot well.
I shoot them @ .270-.271 dia. Hope this helps some.

My 6.5 Arisaka had a .268 groove diameter barrel. I used the 266455 in it but also used the 266469 cast of COWWs (old ones pre-95) and WQ'd. I used a .268 sizer (H&I) which just GC'd and lubed the as cast .268 bullets. My records show 24.5 gr H4895 with a Dacron filler gave just over 1800 fps and 2 moa accuracy. I also found 16 gr of H4227 with a Dacron filler to give 2 moa accuracy but at a lower 1550 fps.

The bore on my long rifle is good at .265.
I've been using .266 sized boolets, PC'ed. 140gr, gas checked.
Haven't started to weigh them yet.
So far seems to be working good.
    I've tried 2400, 4227, and 4198.
    The 4227 at 14.5 and 15.0 shoots 1 1/2" at 50, 2 to 3 at 100.
I think it can do better.
    With 4198, at 14.5 to 15.0, I get 1 to 2 at 50, and 2 to 3 at 100.
The 4198 feels much softer than the 4227.
Going to try again, but weigh the boolets this time.

No one else shooting 6.5 Arisaka????

    Didn't weigh the boolets.
Put a tuff of dacron filler instead.
So far I've had the best luck with 15.0, I4198.
2400 was close, but I4198 was more consistent.
6 shots at 100yds. Off the bench with rest.
