    A Meat Doe

    In about 25 min
I have been having every day headaches so hunting deer or anything else has been hard the last few weeks

But today I said %%#&*&^ ( and a few other things I will not post ) so I took enough meds to make the headache semi Ok

I hunted a ground blind along a woods that my Dad owns
I have a 30 yard X 200 yard food plot of Oats , clover and turnips just inside the woods

Sort of a early place to eat before heading out to the standing corn

I was in the mood to get a doe for meat and watch for a nice buck later

I got to the blind about 2:30 , so I would not bump deer

I had just gotten everything in place , when I heard a Blue Jay
So I started looking at the 2 trails the does normally use and slid the one shoot through mesh section to the side a little

In a few more min a doe and 2 yearlings came out to feed 40 yards away and 5 min later a nice doe and a yearling came out right on the other side of the food plot

They started feeding into the food plot and at about 25 yards
I got a good shot , put the red dot from the red dot sight , just behind her shoulder and pulled the trigger
The shot was perfict and the Rage Broadhead did it's job and she only went 20 yards
I waited a bit and put everything back in my backpack

I was using a Horton Hunter crossbow that I bought in 1998

As I got out of the blind I looked and my watch said 3 PM

So a nice quick hunt .... not the all day wait to get a last second shot before it got to dark LOL

    Didn't think to get pictures
As I skinned her out as soon as I got back from checking her in
Boy dose the winch on the ATV sure help skin a deer out

I also have most of the meat boned out , ready for the grinder
I just need to get some pork & pork fat to mix in

Good job. I started hunting with a crossbow about three years ago after Kansas made them legal in the general archery season. They aren't the 100 yard, equal of a rifle weapon some tout them as being, but they're pretty darn good for the distances and conditions I normally hunt.

John, I am glad you were able to get into the deer woods in spite of the terrible headaches. Congrats on the nice meat doe. Sounds like you had done your homework and had a plan. You will reap the benefits of that nice fat doe for quite a while. Thanks for posting.

Good job on the doe , as already said crossbows are not a gun by any stretch of imagination but they are deadly with in their limits . John I hope you can get rid of the headaches .

    Marshall , it is sad
But 2 Doctors have told me , I can never get rid of some of my Headaches
Real bad part the headaches are getting worse and more often
As all but 1 type are a direct result of a fall at work almost 7 years ago and the other is from the Doctor was not able to get everything back in the right spots on my skull as he fixed my face
So there is nerves and tendons rubbing on things

I don't remember most of 3 months and a lot more in the next 2 months , but the bits I do remember are BAD
I spent 4 months in hospitals and rehab centers getting me back as well could be done

I fell head first off of a ladder 10' up , landing first on my forehead
So my head and right arm took the worst of it
2 plates on my skull and 1 on my wrist
Bad enough to cause brain damage and they had to take part of my brain out to save my life .... lots of mood stabilizing drugs

LOL I see a shrink every week and more often when needed to smooth out the mood swings

Lots of more operations and special glasses so I don't see 2 of everything

So I will be fighting headaches the rest of my life ... Oh fun

John, I hate to hear that. Explore massage therapy, chiropractic, herbs, etc. you may find some relief in those modalities. Glad you got meat in the freezer! Good luck!
