    Magazine tube on 1894

Have a 30-30 94, the magazine tube has about 1/4 inch play Side to
Side; as in with my fingers I can move the tube side to side . We just shot the thing and fires and functions fine; t other 94s in the stable do not do this. Any ideas where to start with diagnosis? Thanks all!

The forward magazine band screw being loose/stripped will cause this, especially if the cut in the barrel through which screw passes is wallowed out form being shot lots while loose. If this is the case, you can probably take the tube off and peen the side of the slot to form it back where it should be. If you do peen it, use a punch that is flat and clean on the bottom, and hit it with a hammer lightly, but repeatedly.

If by side to side, you mean, you can grab the tube and turn it. Then, mine does that a little. Not nearly 1/4 inch though. The magazine cap retaining screw has a pin made on the end of it that goes into a recess in the underside of the barrel. It could be that the pin is broken or the slot has been wallowed out.
