The bullet is a 340 grain Lee .457. Thoughts are casting it in 1/40 alloy then either single coat or double coat powder. That would be Eastwood Ford Blue.

How fast in an 1895 Marlin (Remlin) without fouling? What would the expected terminal performance be?

I've shot a few deer with a 245 Maxi with 120 grains of powder, they never failed to impress. 1/40 should be BHN 8, pure being 5 as I understand. It would be nice if it flattened out like the 245 obviously did. (Obviously as I never recovered one and the exit holes were pretty good.)

1500-1800 FPS, is that reasonable?
