    7x57 Ruger #1

    I shot this 6 round group this morning from the bench at 50 yds. I can cover the group with a nickle.

    Ruger #1
    (3) 175 gr RN cast / sized .286 / 36 gr H4350
    3) 175 gr FN cast / sized .284 / 36 gr H4350

    I think the Ruger likes this load !

    Dang nice shooting with a #1 and cast bullets. I have always pined after a No 1 in 7x57 or 6.5x55, with a different configuration, not the manlicher type that I see them made in, a #1B would be perfect. Guess I will have to settle for my 98 Mauser that I put a 7x57 barrel on.

    Wow fantastic I have a Ruger no1 7x57 it had the Manlicher stock but I changed them it to the MPI composite stock set and this is my sons favorite rifle. I have not tried cast but I see it time to get at it.

    Nice! I've been working a lot with a 7x57 and cast lately, just killed a deer with it yesterday.

    What bullet design is that? How hard are you casting them? Have you chronographed that load to know how fast it is?

    its the RCBS 168 gr RN....probably not harder than lyman #2...
    didn't chronograph the load but suspect it is pushing 2000 fps
    7x57 is probably my most favorite cartridge.

    I have that mold, but haven't cast any and tried them. I'm thinking cast with a soft nose, it would make a good hunting bullet.

    Yep. I find myself trying to chase perfection less and less. The old adage "perfection is the worst enemy of good enough" is pretty true.
