But lawful carry in Chicago is bad...
They don't say much about the CCW guy.
Do you think it will change the way they look at CCW?????
CCW in chicago????
Never thought they would have it.
We still don't.
"If it saves just one life, it is worth it."
Seems to have saver the cops life.
I hope the officer recovers. Good on the CCW guy.
In my 65 years the best way I have seen to stop a bad guy with a gun, is with a good guy with a gun.
IMO anyone who risks their own life, health to help a wounded cop should be rewarded somehow.
my best wishes and prayers go out to the officer and family. and good on you to the citizen who helped him.
Officer in stable condition and perp in serious condition according to news brief. I’d be curious the legal ramifications of the Samaritan citizen.
Hopefully all ends well and the perp doesn’t absorb too much tax revenue.
Here in IL they will find a way to spin this out of control or bury it. The belief held by a good number of libs in the state is that a CCW holder must own a gun for bad reasons! You know, beer nuts!
Hate to see that officer getting shot but love to see CCW citizen help in this situation. Didnt see this story making any major news headlines and its only covered by local news stations. Not surprised either. Nothing to see here move along. Makes me sick. That CCW citizen is a hero in my eyes and should be recognized. 20 years ago he would have been on every talk show but not today.
The official outlets were stressing that the cop and the CCW got lucky. Since so many times when a CCW gets involved things go wrong..
I stay clear of facebook and all other social media sites. Had to do a little digging to find the story, partly because this happened 2-1/2 weeks ago on 14, Sept.
Glad Grmps put this up. Never good for a cop doing his duty to get injured, but always pleased to read a story where a citizen is doing his duty as a human being.
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms *shall not be infringed*.
"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
- Thomas Jefferson
"While the people have property, arms in their hands, and only a spark of noble spirit, the most corrupt Congress must be mad to form any project of tyranny."
- Rev. Nicholas Collin, Fayetteville Gazette (N.C.), October 12, 1789
Is that really the case or is that just media blowing smoke against CCW again? I cant say that I remember one story where CCW caused issues or got in a way. I'm sure there are cases of stupidity as in everything else but for most part I think CCW usage has been positive. I think it would mostly be last resort kind of a thing. If I could CCW I wouldnt draw unless I saw LEO being under fire like in this story. I wouldnt sneak up behind group of LEOs with my gun drawn behind them going "hey guys you need help". I think common sense still has to play a part here.
