Does close " COUNT "???

I pencil test all the lead that I pour ( cup cakes ) soon as it is cool 2-3 hrs. w/ the " PENCIL " test ,,then come back 2-3 wk's later and scratch again ,, they have been staying the same ( pencil test ) ,, I use a magic marker to write on ea. B3,, HB,, etc. , etc., If I want a BHN of 11-12 , If,I mix 11 BHN with a 22 BHN , ( 1: 1 )to get back to 11-12 BHN ,, how close will I be ??? .

If you mix 1 at 11 and 1 at 22 you will get 16 to 17 BHN. But the ingots generally do not measure the same as the bullet cast from the same alloy due to different cooling rates. Sort of close maybe. I do not measure ingots except to rough sort by hardness.

Hey Dusty,, I should have been thinking better ,, pure lead is about 5BHN,, at 2-1 ( 2-5BHN ,,1-22 BHN ) might come closer ?? Or am I trying to make my math to simple ??

The pencil test only gives me a guest-a-ment of the mixture. I ck. for fill-out & dia. Fix'n to make up about 40+ lbs. for a .215 gn. bullet want to do all from the same mix . ( pot holds about 80# ) .
