Question 45 Colt & Full Wadcutters...

I’ve always had pretty good accuracy with full wadcutters in the 38 Special and the 357 Magnum…

I thought I might try that boolit design in the 45 Colt. (Blackhawk) I see NOE makes several designs…

Anyone shoot the full wadcutter in 45 Colt handguns and what manufacturer?...

    Thanks…BCB

Take a look at the third bullet down in the page of 45 caliber bullets.

    http://www.ccastings.com/

It is not a full wadcutter, but it shoots as well. I load them in 45 Colt so the shoulder is just below the rim of the case, and then put a roll crimp over the shoulder. They shoot very well.

    Take care, Tom

I have shot the saeco 225 grn full wadcutter in 45 acps ( 1911 and a model 25 Smith) and my 45 colt ( 1917 colt). I shoot these over a medium mid rang load for target shooting. Very accurate and soft shooting. Several club members are amazed the 1911s feed them. In moon clips they are trickier to load than truncuaed cones or round noses.

I have been shooting an old Lyman 454-309 wadcutter for nearly 40 years and have had that mold for nearly that long. Great shooting bullet and very accurate.
8 gr. of Unique is a wrist thumper for sure but it is a great bullet.

Might want to make sure your cylinder throats are correct, the shoulder of the wadcutter is full boolit diameter and may not chamber in a factory throat that is too small.
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer?
