    Heat make a difference

I cast and water quenched a couple hundred .45-70 Boolits yesterday. I drained out almost all the water, but they were still a little wet this morning. I put them in my oven to dry them.

I’ve been powder coating for a while now and really like it and find it easy enough to do. I bought some airsoft BBS a couple of weeks ago to give them a try. I can’t say I saw much difference than without.

Today I put the warm Boolits in and powder coated them in one third the time. It was amazing how fast the powder stuck to them with not much agitation.

I’m sold on it now. I’ll be heating them up from now on. If you haven’t tried it, you should at least once. Not so hot that they are too hot to hold in your bare hands.

Powder coating anneal the bullets. Negating the affect of the water quench.

Dont go above 140 degrees if you heat the bullets otherwise you will get a very thick and probably bumpy coating
