    41 Mag carbide sizer question

Hello, I want to neck size 40 caliber rifle brass necks, without the case lube, and it may be that the 41 mag carbide die will do the job. My rifle bullet diameter is 0.409" so this might be a good fit.
Can anyone measure the sized OD (but not expanded) of their 41 mag cases and let me know? I am thinking anything shy of 0.430" will be worth a buy and try.
Maybe final size is brand specific so you if you should be so kind to also include the die maker too, that may make a difference.

    Many thanks!

My 41 mag Lee carbide die with no expansion, OD of Starline brass 0.430 , thickness .0125 or 0.025 so ID is close to 0.405" .

Minerat, Thank you!! That LEE sizer is the other data point. I have two brands of brass. A few hundred based on the R-P 34-40 Krag case. Most of my older brass is R-P and has thinner neck walls at an average of 0.009"+. I just started converting Graf head-stamp 30-40 Krag brass and those have thicker necks running between 0.010" and ).013". In fact the Graf has thicker everything. They weigh 30-40 grains more per case than the R-P.

Sounds Like I should try the RCBS Carbide die to get enough squeeze on those skinny R-P cases and the Graff will either necked turned to uniformed and thinned or just expanded to 0.409" and shot as is.

Again, thank you both for the help!

Minerat, I grew up in Jeffco in the '60's. A strong smell of the brewery in the air most days. Wow, the place has grown!

Yup, too many foreigners bringing Komifornia politics in now. We moved in in 1962. The beer smell is still around close to the brewery.

    Glad I could help.
