    Bit of Leather

I was wandering around the other day and ran across a couple of really nice sights that sold leather stock covers for various lever action guns.
I decided to make one for my Rossi 92 and as I like stitching, I lasered my holes and the shape of the parts. Way easier than punching.
The major drawback vs most sold is that stitching can't be removed without cutting or otherwise removing the stitching. The laced versions go on and off much easier.

But anyway, here it is.Click image for larger version.

Ok I got a dumb question. What do you mean by " lasering" your stitches?. I do my own leather work as well. That's a new one on me

I use my CO2 laser to laser the pattern and this included the holes and also engrave my logo. Laser works really well on leather as long as it is kept flat. But like all organic skin/flesh, it stinks to high heaven.
I smell it for a couple of days even with a good exhaust.

Oh, and one nice thing is that it leaves a really good black edge. No staining on edges.

Nice looking work, but I doubt I will be rushing out to buy a computer controlled laser to make two for a 93 and 86.
Plain old leather punch and the inaccuracies for me I reckon!
