My M1910 .303 Ross Rifle and Lee 185 Grain RN cast.

Back in my GI Bill college days in 1969, I bought a .303 Ross rifle M1910 from a fellow student for $15.00. I shot the Ross and found it shot .303 Ball a foot high at 100 yards with the battle sight. I cleaned the Ross and greased the bore.

Today, I got the old Ross out of the vault and tried my Mark III Enfield (dated 1911) cast Boolit load of IMR4198 and the Lee .312 185RN cast boolit, sized .311" at 25 and then 100 yards. I found another cast boolit rifle in my heap! At 25 yards, the boolit was 2" high and dead center for Zero Windage. All 5 rounds were touching. At 100 yards, my boolit was about 6 inches high and center. With a lower front sight placement on the bullseye, my hits were point of aim.

I now have another cast boolit rifle here on the farm.

We'd like to see your Ross. We like looking at guns here- especially interesting ones.

    Texas,

I am not picture literate, but my son and grandsons are so there is hope I can post a picture of the M10 Ross in the near future. I was in Texas when I acquired the rifle; I was a student at Lamar in Beaumont. The rifle had the correct web sling and a brass oiler in the butt trap with a "E.S.S." mark and the Broad Arrow mark.

    Stand by for pictures.

    Yes pic please.
185 Lee is a fine boolit in the right rifle. I use a good stout load of 4198 or 4227 and shoots well under a moderate charge of 2400. Reduced loads are great too. I beagled my mold and PC the boolit to get .314, a bit off diameter really helps!!!!!
    Be well
