Question New lead from eBay - Bullets look “galvanized”...

Uh oh, what do I have here? Not sure if this is normal, my first time with WW alloy. Was told this lead was from lead wheel weights. They are a little softer than some commercial Bullets that are BHN 12. Weight is same as when I was using 10-1. Thoughts?

Looks like the lead was very hot when cast. I like them like that.
That is crystalline structure in the alloy.

I concur...it looks like really hot alloy. As long as they are filled out...shoot 'em up.

Those bullets look like they dropped from a LEE 452 - 255 RF mold.
They are really well filled out, so I would say keep casting them the way your doing it, those bullets are great and good to lube and shoot. A little frosting just makes them festive Christmas bullets.

Yes that’s the one. Haha thanks! I was very pleased with this bullet in my peacemaker clones in 10-1, looking forward to trying these out.

I like a little frosting on mine too. I get my best fillout just at the point of frosting. Too much though, and you will lose definition of the edges. 'Looks like you got these just right.
    KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.
