Yes he is! Has done several for me and usually has a fast turn around time. Great guy to deal with.

So excuse my ignorance but it is possible to discover the actual alloy content in any given lead? I have some isotope sheets and was wondering if this was anything other than pure lead?

Yes, an XfR test will tell you the alloy. I expect there may be a little error but its fairly accurate.

One thing to consider is that there is not a "specific" lead alloy used for sailboat keels. It is only used for ballast therefor it can be anything the builder has scrounged together and melted down to pour the keel and most likely done in layers. Unless you melted down the whole thing for a better blend of alloys I think you may be in for more than what you bargained for. Good luck.

Chain saw has been mentioned. I would use a weed burner with pig shapes dug in the ground under the keel.

I think once you get done with that 3400 pounds you will be a expert . Try a reciprocating saw , circular saw , and possibly a chainsaw but what ever you try take your time and be safe watch out for kick back and flying debris , I have read of a member cooking down large batches with a old bathtub over a wood fire pit . Can you take some pictures ?

Man, that's too bad. With an unknown alloy of that quantity I'd of had it tested as well before purchasing.
