Trail Boss load for the .44 magnum

Lee 44-200RNFP and 7.0g of Trail Boss gives accuracy of 2.4 and 2.17 inches at 25 yards from a bench rest.
Velocity is 834fps with an ES of 18 and SD of 6.
Primer is CCI-300LP and the boolits were shot as cast, from an unknown alloy that tests Saeco 7(Bhn11) and just tumble lubed in LLA cut with mineral spirits for a thin goldish tint. OAL is 1.650" Cases R-P.
Platform is a Smith Mdl 69 with a 4-1/4" bbl and a Patridge front sight.
This gun has tight throats that measure .4285", but the boolits measured .429 to .430 as loaded and shot,
There was absolutely no leading seen!

As I've gotten older, my hands can no longer take a steady diet of 429421 and 19g of 2400 or 17g of WC820, but I can shoot this Trail Boss load all day with no ill effects. I just wish Trail Boss would have been available back in 1963 when I first took up the .44 mag.
It's all chicken, even the beak!

Agreed, Trail Boss works well in the 44mag! I have a 200 grain wadcutter mold from Accurate Molds that is scary accurate in my 44 Blackhawk using Trail Boss @ 7.5 grains. Also very clean burning, and no leading either. I find myself using this powder more and more in all different applications.

I use that same 7.0gr load in 629 classic pushing a cramer 200gr wc (top right).

    If I don't get 3/4" 6-shot groups with that combo @ 25yds it's my fault.

You may also want to try an aftermarket padded grip, one really helped me with my RSBH

I can't imagine a better powder than Trail Boss for straight wall lead "plink'n" ammo!??, I use it in 357, 44mag, 45 Colt and 45-70, I buy it by the 5# JUG!
