    C309-150-F seat punch

I'm currently loading the 7.62x40 WT with a Powder coated Lee C309-150-F, with an Aluminum gas check. The seat plug that came with my Hornady Die set is causing havoc with the nose of my Boolit. It works great with 150g FMJ's, Lead not so much. I found the Custom Bullet Seating Stems on Hornady site for the A-Max, FTX and others, but have no idea if any will fit. A flat punch would work, if I new where to get one. Suggestions ???

If you have a set of 30-30 dies the seating stem them is what you are looking for.

I tried that. My 30-30 is a Lee Die. About 3/8" too long to seat the Boolit properly. The only Hornady seat stems I have make the nose of my Boolit look like a wadcutter. If Hornady cant make one, I'll find a local shop to make one.

An old trick is to fill the end of your stem with aluminum foil to seat the flat point. My Lee dies for .300 BO and 30-30 both leave a ring mark on the C309150F but it doesn't affect accuracy that I can tell.

Fill the seat stem with JB weld and presto. Flat

You can also "form fit" hot melt glue for temporary use. For more permanent use, you can use epoxy to fit the nose shape of your bullet as well.
