    Hello leadhead,

As far as I know the 7.65x53 and the 7.65x54 are the same cartridge.

All I have shot through my 91 Mauser is formed military 30-06 brass.
I ran them through a Redding 7.65 Belgian Trim Die, then through the
Lyman 7.65 Argentine Sizing Die. I did have to turn the necks as they
seemed to be to thick to chamber. I used Hornady .312 jacketed spritzers
and accuracy was fair. Since I've picked up the LEE C312-185-1R mold
    but haven't tried it yet.

My Lee dies have worked for me for many years, the only 53 marked cases I ever had were Lapua and they grew to 54 after the first firing.

You can look up the standard for the Argentine Mauser and all other standardized Mausers at the CIP Homologation site. You will only find (1) 7.65 X53 Mauser.

    http://www.cip-bobp.org/homologation/en/tdcc_public

The problems you run into are errors in the dies.
The Lee dies are too long by about .010 ".
I have a set of Hornady Pacific dies that are about .035 too short. I once had a CH trim die that was short .027.
One the other hand I have 2 RCBS FL dies and a RCBS trim die that are all exactly the same and they match 4 Rifles perfectly.

Surprised to see a thread I started asking some of the same questions referenced here. Practically everything I know about reloading the Argentine Mauser is in that thread. As far as dies, as I said in my original post, I acquired both a set of Hornady and RCBS dies. Somewhere in there I got a set of Redding dies that incl. a trim die. The trim die gets me started forming from .270 Win range pickup(I don't own a .270) but I mostly use PPU brass. Since I've already got the set out, I size with the Redding die.

I've only got the one Argy but if I ever run across a 1909 and have the $$, I might get another.
