    WTB Lyman rec. sight

I'm looking for an older steel Lyman receiver sight for a 1894 Winchester. Model # is 66 I believe. Please no tang sight offers. Old Redfield considered as well. Thanks!

Lyman sight for 94 Winchester is 66A.

I was winning one for days on an auction site, at the last minute a buzzard swooped in. I fought him off for a little while but decided I would let him have it after I ran the price up haha. I am still looking for a Lyman sight!

I have a Lyman 66LA new in the box with instructions. It is marked on the outside for the Marlin 336 but the instructions describe other mounting options. If you have to drill and tap the holes it would probably work, otherwise good going with your search.

The difference between a 66A and a 66LA is the part of the mounting base that curls in over the top of the receiver. To use a 66LA on a Winchester, it will either have a space between the curl and receiver or you will have to file off the curl part of the base. I forget which one is higher.

Texas: You might want to consider a Redfield 70E sight. I think they are a much better sight than the Lyman. I have Redfield's on my Marlin's that have receiver sights.

So, out of curiosity I mounted the 66LA on my pre 64 Model 94 and it did fit the pre-drilled holes and it did line up with the both barrel sights, the front and rear (the rear is a peep and not a notch). It does need to be slightly above the receiver to allow for bolt clearance but it does fit just fine. Since I have a peep on the barrel I don't need to leave the 66LA on the gun.

Since the 66LA fits my 36G Marlin so well, it found a home. I am still looking for an old all steel 66A or a Redfield 70E for my Win 94. I've bid on two Redfields bit lost at the last as I balked at the cost. I have reimagined things and decided that the cost of a cheap scope shouldn't stop me from getting one of those Redfield sights!

They're not making anymore. Get'em when you can! There'e nothing quite like a steel receiver sight on a good lever gun.

If I didn't want one of these, they would be everywhere for $50.

    TbG,

I believe I have found in my parts etc., what your looking for? Mine is a Redfield, but not marked other than a stamp under the slide of "R W" and a stamp on the mount that faces the receiver of "W", which I take to mean both Redfield and Winchester! Also it all seems to line up correctly on a pre-64, Mod 94 that we don't want to D&T.

I am going to PM you, as to the deal, cause, first you need to have it in your hands and be sure I'm right. Then if all is good, I will assure you, it will be a fair deal!
