These are some Cheddite Kraft paper pre-primed hulls I just got in from BPI last month. They loaded up very, very nice. Only got 200 of them, will have to wait for more most likely, I waited 7 months for these on back order, but they loaded up sweet. I had 16's on order with these but they called and told me that they were not going to be available, so the hunt goes on for more 16 ga paper.

I bought the 375C I owned new back in the late 1980’s as a 16 gauge unit . I ordered the 10 gauge at the same time but at that time “they claimed the 10 was slightly different “ and needed a separate head . Dunno if that was true then or not . I do know that you can order a PW LS-1000 10 gauge add an extra $40 and they’ll set it up for 10 gauge 2 7/8” shells . Now I’d love to have one of those except for the price tag !

I love the smell of paper shells on a brisk fall morning, just the thought takes me back! Wish I could find some 16ga papers, I'll be trolling bp now to see if they have any in stock. I have a 1955 JC Higgins 100 that would love some paper
Sharps4590, best wishes with the chemo. The gathering is a first try, put together by a couple guys on the 16ga forum. Hopefully it will be recurring, but attendance is spotty due to hunting seasons. Tenn. Dosent really get going till Nov so it works well for me. Maybe next year.
I load lots of paper 12s from the AMU When they shot Federal gold medals. Brought home a big trash sack last time I shot there. In recent years it seems most are shooting the Win AA, and I got more of them than I want! Papers are special..

Heck No, lots of us Dino's out here. Somethings don't always get better every time a new year rolls around. I'll bet dimes to donuts that many here would take lots of old stuff made in the last century over lots of stuff made lately. Yup, nothing like getting ready for the start of a new hunting season with guns and gear made in the past. Here's a sweet ole girl that has a special place in my heart when the opening day of dove season rolls around each year. Yup, old shotguns and 16 ga paper shotshells. A vintage Wards Western Field take-down, 26 inch bbl, 6 pounds, 5+1, full choked.

I'd like to hear more about experiences with slugs and round ball loadings. I have a 16 gauge Deer Slayer I'd like to use deer hunting someday.

    Thank you Richard,
It is the most favored of my three. I really should start to try and get the 12, 20 and a 410 of the same model and take-down configuration. They aren't anything special collector wise at this time, but who knows what the future will bring, and I think that having a nice battery of this model would be a real treat to have.

Model 12 16 guage pump bought used weaver screw in chokes loaded with # 4 buckshot at the ready. Have a quantity ( for me that is ) of loaded ammo for it and Dad's old revelation Montgomery Wards double barrel just sitting quietly there. Haven't loaded any in twenty years and still have a "chest full" of components and a Lee loader. When at the Boys Ranch in New Mexico, we had waterfowl galore coming to feed on our crops. Winter wheat probably benefitted more from the fertilizer that the geese left than damage done. Anyway we tried to keep them away. One day a big flock of Greater Sand-Hill Cranes were in a field and I stuck the old 16 guage out the truck and fired a round ( #4 Buck) . The geese were approximately 400 yards away. The shot hit the ground and bounced, then bounced again and all of a sudden I feared for the cranes lives because they were protected at the time. Well the shot didn't reach them and they didn't even fly away... but I didn't do that anymore.

I love my 1945 Model 12, but my 1931 Ithaca SXS usually gets the nod. It's choked Mod. and Full and every so often it can still go straight on the Trap range.

    Carries like a 20 and hits like a 12...

Put me in that camp. I have one of what could be considered a modern long gun, a Model 70 Winchester Classic Featherweight in 270 with a 6X Leupold scope. It's also the only scoped rifle I own. Oh...I stand corrected...I do own a CZ-455FS equipped with an aperture sight but, I tend to overlook 22's not that it's right....they just don't come up on my radar very often.

The rest are either pre-WWI and pre-WWII originals of American, Austrian and German make or accurate reproductions of 19th century cartridge arms such as Shiloh Sharps and Cody Rifle Works Ballard.

I ran across an article on 16ga slug loading yesterday. Info is a little dated, 1975 Gun Digest. If there is any interest I will try to scan ( take pictures with this stoopid phone). Not sure I should post it ???

FWIW I have not loaded my own yet, but in my Feather weight 16 Deerslayer, I found Remington Sluggers to be the best, at 4" @ 95 yds, Federal about 6", and WW about 16 ", all shot from bench, double bagged. Brenneke was right in there with Remington sluggers, but were twice the cost, but maybe more energy delivered. I have killed more deer than I remember with this, mostly at about 50yds. I have whacked a few at about 100 yds in my hay field. Some of those were in and out. The deer won't run far with those big holes in the lungs.

Used my 16 ga M31 for my deer last year. Not much research prior, kinda spur of the moment. Federal factory slug shot right to the bead at 50 yards for my sighter. Shot right to the bead on the young buck about 45minutes later, bout 50 yards
Kinda got me interested in seeing what I can load up.

MOA Those paper hull loads turned out real nice. I just got hold of an old Pacific press designed to load paper hulls. I have a few Federal Gold Medal once fired paper hulls and will look to BPI for some new primed hulls. Thanks for posting the pictures. Gp

Maybe a bit OT, but did I dream that someone posted a query about interest in some 16ga slugs before he melted them down???? Cant find it, maybe I am going nuts ????

Rking22, there was a post that you are asking about. Unfortunately the gentleman wanted to sell his slugs in a manner that violates forum rules. I had to shut it down, sorry.
You may be able to contact him via pm to see if he still has any.
