    Marked "L S"
    Steel handles use adapter.
    Came with 50-70 dies.
    Large Universal decapping die.
    Muzzle Resizer
    #141 bullet Seater
    #18 adapter

    $366.54 on FleaBay

    Added info:

A caliper measures .605 on the threads of standard 310 dies and .655 on these 50-70 dies. So the "Special" dies are about .050" larger than standard 310 dies for the "Small" or "Large" handles.

I've seen some very old Ideal tools (for 25-20, IIRC) that had a smaller diameter die and accompanying handles with a smaller threaded hole to accept them. Do your Special handles have a larger-than-standard hole for bigger dies?

I hadn't thought of that. Good catch!

I bought an Ammunition Maker kit years ago that I believed would have Special handles in it. I was disappointed when it just had large alloy handles and I just assumed it had been assembled from parts available at the time at some time in the past. Froggie and I were both joking that we have never done that!
Now that I know what real Special handles are like, I know better and I have had to do some reevaluating. The dies for that kit are sized for large handles that came with it.
I also had 348 Win TruLine Jr dies that weren't! They are Special sized 310 dies, but someone added an expander button to make them into TruLineJr dies. They won't fit a Truline Jr press and the expander button won't work in the Special handles. Not all of the dies are there for a 310 set, either.

So now I have to re-sort by measuring the larger caliber dies!
The 310 fun just never ends!

Those handles are out there. I have owned a set or two and seen others for sale from time to time. They are interesting for a collector, as they are a transition from single caliber steel handles to multi caliber alloy handles. As a functional item, they offer nothing over the single caliber steel or multi caliber alloy handles.

I wish I had mine back, so I could sell them again but at the current price.
Disclaimer: The above is not holy writ. It is just my opinion based on my experience and knowledge. Your mileage may vary.

I have examples of the three sizes downstairs.

They are there, though so uncommon to be nearly unobtainium.

    Known calibers for Special handles:

    348 Win
    50-70

My 310 charts shows only the 348 Win as requiring Special handles. 50-70 310 dies may be available in both sizes.

The 310 Shop makes larger handles than standard and 50-70 dies to fit. I don't know which calibers are available from the 310 Shop to fit the larger handles or if the larger 310 Shop dies/handles are interchangeable with the old Ideal handles I have. I hope to know soon.
$300 on the 310 Shop price list for this special caliber. Better than the Near Unobtainium I got on FleaBay by a little and I suspect these would have gone much higher if it was clear they were Special handles with dies in great condition. I had to guess from the listing photos.

    Hey Brass,
These are the ones I won from gun broker that we spoke on the phone about. Original box is marked 270 Win. They have an "L" stamped on one side, but no "S". Your set looks a little cleaner than mine.
