Got a Convection Oven to PC with!!

I picked up an Oster convection toaster oven to PC boolits for myself and my son. I won't get to try it out until late next week but I am itching to give it a whirl. I also got a Taylor oven thermometer and I hope that it is accurate enough to use to see if the temps are even. I have an IR temp. unit that I plan on using to check the thermometer with. I am sure I will need more Powder real soon!

Rely on the Oven Guide it is accurate within reason and responds immediately. If the convection is working properly the oven temp should be pretty much uniform. I have tried several IR's and I haven't found them to be dependable. Main thing a PC oven needs to come to temp and be able top hold that temp without wide variations.

    Congrats, Osters are nice ovens.
Line the bottom of your oven with ceramic BBQ briquettes, once you're up to temp the oven will recover from opening the door much more rapidly.

All but the most expensive countertop oven temp settings are off due to the nature and location of the thermostat. You should re-check the setting every time the surrounding temperature changes

You can also borrow another oven thermometer to help confirm yours is OK
