Chore Boy Pure Copper scrubbers are commonly used by dope smokers. A convince store by me keeps them in stock with the cigarette rolling paper.

Odd, makes me wonder what they use them for. I suspect some folks making their own still could use that same copper scrubber for distillation column packing, so long as it's not copper over iron/steel (you can check with a magnet.) I wouldn't want to run iron-cored scrubbers down a bore w/o knowing...

I wonder how this would work for alloying copper to your lead?

Try eBay and search for Pipe screens...1" diameter. You will have to make a hole in the center, but they are cheaper than Lewis Lead Remover screens.

A brand name that's properly labeled is a safe bet, but it's a good idea to check the copper or bronze pads at the discount store with a magnet before you buy them. Several years ago my wife got what she thought was something like chore boy pads at a discount store and it was steel wool that had been plated to look like copper. We found out when they started rusting as soon as she used one of them.

The STUF-FIT Copper Mesh, the OP listed, is sold an Amazon. Be advised that their description states that it is not 100% copper. Amazon does have another brand (Haierc Copper Mesh) that is suppose to be 100% copper, that's a little more expensive.

I bought copper "Scrub-Buddies" for $1 (3-pak) at the Dollar Tree store.
They passed the magnet test as well as the side cutter test.

I have been using fine copper screens purchased at what I believe is called a 'head shop.' The extra expense was worth it for the respect I received when I ordered a half dozen packs.
