    RMR Lead Cores

    Hello,

    I’m gathering stuff to start casting for the first time and I found a company (Rocky Mountain Reloading) that sells lead for a good price. Has anyone ever cast with this stuff? It’s the reject cores of their jacketed bullets. Supposed to have around 3% antimony and no tin. Should this cast okay? Thanks

    Scobey: This is just a guess as I've never tried this product but I would think that these cores were swaged the absence of tin wouldn't be a problem in that instance. If you plan to cast these I believe you will need to add enough tin to get good mould fill-out. I would balance it 94-3-3 but 2% tin may be enough. Should be a clean alloy. Gp P.S.     Gp,

    Thanks for that. I had a feeling that this would be the case, but it never hurts to ask. Would solder be the best way to get some tin into the alloy?

    Lots of ways to purchase tin. Solder, junk store pewter or from an alloy dealer. Go with the best price and ease of acquirement. Gp
