    Idea for a oven

Just thinking out of the box.
Toaster oven works fine, but this might be an idea.
Friend gave me his broken pancake air compressor.
Took everything worth saving off, and left with a nice, solid, round semi sealed, container.
If I cut the top 1/4 off, insulate the inside with plaster of paris, install an oven element with control, and a thermometer, and find a grate to fit
I would have a lift off top oven.
Would make loading coated boolets easier. less chance of tipping over.
Probably no better than the toaster oven. Would take up more space.
Plus side is I could also use it to coat other small parts.

Actually any 'box' with a hot air source (outside the box?) will work. Move the calrods and cut a hole in the bottom of the toaster oven?
    Whatever!

One thing about floods, there are lot of good stuff people no longer want. Here is my 30" wall oven converted for powder coating. It started out life as an all digital oven, which means when the electronics go out it is major bucks to replace, so I got the oven from a neighbor for free. I installed a PID, extra cooling fans for the relay and a timer. If you want to cook thousands of bullets or large items I think this is a much simpler way to go. Once stabilized the temperature holds to about 2 degrees.

Yep, forget converting a tank. No insulatuon... way too easy to get a real oven. I've a $50 digital wall mount that I can bake a lot of bullets or other powdercoating. Still use my little oven for just a few bullets

The tank is in real good condition.
    I hate throwing things away.
    Toaster oven is working good.

Take off the motor & compressor and use the tank as a portable air tank.

    All stripped down already.
Already have a portable air tank.
Just seems like a waste not to do something with it.

Cut it in half and make a little charcoal grill from it. Toaster ovens at the Donation centers tend to run about $10-15 with no work to do. You'd likely spend that much in the element and plaster. Cut in half...put a handle on the top and call it a portable grill.

Would it make a good smelting pot?

I was thinking of making a small grill.
I just don't need one right now.
    Already have a smelting pot.
I'll find something to do with it.

I've been waiting for someone to try to PC in one of these
    https://www.sunoven.com/all-american-sun-oven/
You could bake bullets anywhere, as long as the sun is out and you can keep the temperature up. which brings to mind a question, baking at 400F for 20 minutes. Is there variability in there say like when clouds cut sunlight or must the temp reach 400F and stay there the whole time? Or can it be intermittent as long as the total time at 400f is 20 minutes

At almost $350 that would be out of my "just cause it's cool" price zone, especially just to be able to PC out in the woods. I like the idea in general though, even if only for the novelty of it. Now if I lived off grid it would be more entertaining if I did not want to fire up a wood fuel driven oven.

That's the idea no signature of activity, off grid.
